How We Feel About Adoption...

We’re very excited to expand our family through adoption and ready to work with whatever you, as birthmother/birthfather feel comfortable with, be it a very open adoption, not so open, or anything in between. We can only imagine that every parent would love to know whether their child has their chin, or their eyes, or likes the same foods they loved when they were young. We hope that we’ll be able to communicate this to you via letters, pictures, emails, or meetings (or all of the above, of course!), but we know that each birthparent’s situation and preferences are different and so we’ll absolutely respect whatever your wishes might be.

We hope that you would be willing to choose a name for your child, so that he/she will carry something very special throughout their entire life and know that it comes from you. We want to be very open and honest with your child and answer all of his/her questions (no matter how many!) about families built by adoption and families built by birth. We’re looking forward to creating a fun, informative lifebook for your child, so that he/she can learn all about how he/she came to be in our family. We hope you’ll be able to help us with information that we can include about your child’s birth family, but of course only what you feel comfortable sharing.
When we told our families of our desire to further expand our family through adoption, they were overjoyed and are all very excited to welcome another child into our extended family. Both of our families absolutely adore Tommy and have embraced him with much joy and love, so we have no doubt that grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins will all shower your child with much affection.
