About Luc...written by Barb

Picture
Luc is the most generous person I know, giving of his love, his time, his skills, or just lending an ear to anyone in need. He's incredibly patient and a natural teacher, and has taught nieces, nephews, and friends' kids how to make great pizza, perform cool card tricks, and how to ask our dogs to 'shake a paw' in French. He loves heading out on long walks with Tommy and our dogs, woodworking, playing and building guitars, and is an avid reader. He also loves to ski and mountain bike.

Luc grew up in Rimouski, Quebec with his sister and parents. Within walking distance of their house, he could play in the woods, ski, bike, swim, and fish with his friends in the neighborhood. His whole family would go skiing, then come home and drink hot chocolate in front of a fire. They would have cookouts, feasting on the fresh crab and cod they would get at the docks ten minutes from their house.

Luc's Dad worked as an electrician and inspired in him the fun of working with his hands and his mind at the same time. Luc's mom was a stay-at-home mom and provided her children with the affection that came naturally to her. Their home was always filled with conversation, music, books, a dog, and plenty of friends and neighbors dropping by.

Luc’s family moved to Paris, France for a year when he was 11 years old. Together, they explored Europe and had the opportunity to experience a lifestyle very different from Canada. He feels fortunate to have been introduced to travel and different cultures at an early age and still loves to explore this great planet.

Luc learned to play music at a young age through violin lessons, played basketball in high school, was class president in college (which meant making sure that parties were frequent and fun), and put on the best 'Gong Show' production during his University years. He also worked as a roadie at local rock concerts, worked at a music store, was part of a crew that built a municipal park, and learned one smoking card trick!

As a kid, Luc always wanted to take things apart and re-build them. Sometimes these things worked again, sometimes they didn't. I guess this was good practice for becoming an engineer as he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Luc has a successful career as a network engineer, and even though his work is important to him, I know that his number one priority is family - he has always been there for me or other family members, no matter what. He's also fortunate to be able to work mostly at home, so he will be there to share in every step of our children’s lives. He is very much a ‘hands-on’ Daddy and spends every spare minute playing with Tommy, teaching him new words, or taking him out around the neighborhood.

We are very close to Luc's parents, his sister and her two children, and are in close contact with them via phone and email along with frequent visits.
